Our Musical Partners

Big Wrench Piano Care, founded in 2002, is a small, custom-oriented piano service and sales company operating in the same space as Brooklyn Fine Guitars.  We were most recently in the same space as the Musician's General Store at 177 Smith Street, for five years starting in late 2011.

Piano services at all levels are available, from aural tuning, voicing and action regulation, to full or partial instrument rebuilding, including soundboard repair, pin block replacement, restringing, action weight and leverage diagnostics, custom hammer and key weighting.  Other services such as full sound board replacement, case repair, and partial or full refinishing are available through our longtime associate Marco's Art of Restoration, based in Mineola, NY. 

We also maintain a selection of fine upright and grand pianos, refurbished or fully rebuilt, in our Hoyt Street showroom.  We focus on high quality makes such Steinway & Sons, Mason & Hamlin, Chickering, Knabe and Sohmer.  These are just a few classic American examples; we have rebuilt and refurbished numerous additional pianos made by quality-oriented American piano companies.  Yamaha and Kawai are two Japanese makes that we highly value, and occasionally we will offer rare European makes,  All sales include a local delivery, warranty, and in-home tuning.  In addition to acoustic pianos, we also sell new weighted action Yamaha keyboards and several models of rebuilt vintage electric pianos, specifically Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzers.
